Aaron Jarrell "A. J." Hammons (born August 27, 1992) is an American basketball player for the Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team. As a McDonald's All-America nominee out of Oak Hill Academy, Hammons is regarded as an elite defender and a premier shot-blocker. He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team at the conclusion of his first season playing for the Boilermakers. Hammons most notably had nineteen double-doubles in his freshman year and made his first career start against UNC Wilmington. For the 2015 NBA draft, he is listed as one of the top prospects.
