Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (May 31, 1898 – December 24, 1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of "positive thinking".
John Paul was a pioneer in Ohio and Indiana, founding Xenia, Ohio and Madison, Indiana. He was a delegate at the convention that drafted the constitution of Ohio, and was a state senator in the first general assembly after statehood. He also served in the first state senate of Indiana. He founded the second newspaper in Indiana. He was known as “Colonel John Paul” for his services in the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
Marilyn Reid is a Republican politician who formerly served in the Ohio General Assembly. An attorney from Beavercreek, Ohio, Reid initially ran for the Ohio House of Representatives in 1992, seeking to replace Bob Doyle a fellow Republican who was facing bankruptcy. She defeated Doyle in the primary, and subsequently won the fall general election. She was seated on January 3, 1993, and would be reelected in 1994 and 1996.
