    William J. "Bill" Cullerton Sr. (January 1, 1923 – January 12, 2013) was an American World War II flying ace, entrepreneur, radio show host, and outdoorsman. Cullerton destroyed twenty-one Axis planes during the war, including sixteen destroyed in low-altitude attacks on the ground, ranking him as the second highest strafing ace in the 355th Fighter Group. He was the last surviving ace of the 355th Fighter Group ("Dragon Squadron"), which flew missions out of Steeple Morden, England, during World War II.

Slavich, Jr. (September 9, 1927 – October 20, 2012) was a United States Army colonel who helped pioneer the use of the HU-1A "Huey" helicopter as a tactical close-in support assault ship, and commanded the first armed combat helicopter unit in American military history. He served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War; his military service also included an early enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps.

    Tommie Camilla Stephens Barfield (1888 - 1949) was instrumental in the education system of Collier County, Florida, as its first School Superintendent. Tommie Barfield Elementary School, at which her Great Floridian plaque is located, was named for her. Tommie moved to Marco Island in 1901 with her family and married James Madison Barfield in 1906. In 1910, she turned her home into a hotel and began to make and sell jellies and candies to her guests.
