My World, being the first part is considered an extended play standalone. It was released on November 17, 2009, via Island Records, and its follow up was released on March 23, 2010. Bieber worked a variety of producers and writers such as his mentor, Usher, Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, Midi Mafia and more. The songs are mostly inspired by teen romance and typical coming of age situations, and musically the album is R&B influenced pop.

    The Time of Our Lives is the first extended play (EP) by American recording artist Miley Cyrus. The EP was released on August 28, 2009 by Hollywood Records, initially as a United States' Wal-Mart exclusive. With alterations in artwork and track listing, an international edition was issued October 16, 2009. The Time of Our Lives was conceived as a release to accompany Cyrus' newly launched apparel line with Max Azria. The tracks on the EP were primarily composed by John Shanks and Dr. Luke, who also produced their respective cuts. Cyrus co-wrote one out of seven songs on The Time of Our Lives; one is a cover and another is a live rendition. Musically, the uptempo tracks on the record are in the pop rock and dance-pop genres while ballads are largely soft rock. Lyrically, it explores the themes of romantic relationships, among other subjects.

The album features rearranged takes on Perry's hit songs like "I Kissed a Girl", "Waking Up in Vegas", and "Thinking of You," as well as two brand-new songs, Perry's version of Fountains of Wayne's "Hackensack" and an original song, "Brick By Brick." The DVD also features exclusive interview footage. In Brazil, unlike the US, it was released in DVD/CD format instead of CD/DVD format.

The album was used to promote Cosgrove's single of the same name, released in the final quarter of 2008. Aside from featuring remixes of previous promotional singles of Cosgrove's, the album also featured two tracks, "FYI" and "Party Girl". It is a cover of the Sugababes hit single of the same name.
