The Miss Brasil Pageant is a beauty contest that has been held almost every year since 1954 between winners of the Brazilian state pageants. The winner of Miss Brasil competes in the Miss Universe pageant and the runner-up competes in Miss International.
Miss Universe 2012 is the 61st Miss Universe pageant, and was held on December 19, 2012 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Leila Lopes from Angola crowned her successor Olivia Culpo from the USA at the end of this event. Eighty-nine countries and territories participated in the 2012 pageant, which was transmitted live in participant countries and territories by NBC, Telemundo and the international broadcasters. The pageant was viewable on-demand on computers via NBC.com and mobile devices via NBC's mobile app.
Miss Universe 2013 will be the 62nd Miss Universe pageant. It will be held on November 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. Olivia Culpo, Miss Universe 2012 from the USA will crown her successor at the end of the event. Eighty-six countries and territories will participate in the event. The pageant will be televised live at 10:00 p.m. MSK (UTC+4) in various broadcasters all around the world and it will also telecast on NBC and Telemundo in the United States, with the tape delayed primetime telecast at 9:00 p.m. ET, which is nine hours behind Moscow.
Miss Universe Japan (Japanese: ) was created in 1998 in response to Japan's recent lack of finalists at the Miss Universe pageant. It is a branch from the former Miss Japan pageant.
