    Christian Metz (1794–1867) was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States on October 26, 1842. Once in the U.S., he helped to create a colony for the Community of True Inspiration, a pietist sect. The first was named Ebenezer near what is now Buffalo, New York. In 1855, he relocated to Iowa along with the 1,200-strong congregation and assisted in the founding of the Amana Colonies.

Melinda Metz has also written books for several book series, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The New Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Ghosts of Fear Street, and Goosebumps Presents. She sometimes collaborates with fellow author Laura J. Burns, with whom she writes the book series based on the Everwood TV series, and the Wright and Wong teen detective series. She also was the ghostwriter for two books in the Animorphs series.

    Thomas F. Metz (b. Elkin, North Carolina 1948) is a Lieutenant General in the United States Army. Metz retired from the Army in Jan 2010 after more than 40 years of active military service. His tour of duty prior to retirement was as the Director, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization., leading the DOD organization tasked with finding and fielding ways to defeat the IED threat. Previously he was the Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. Previous to that assignment he was Commanding General of the U.S. III Corps and Fort Hood. He assumed command of III Corps on 7 February 2003.
